Activities Related To Senior Priests & Retirement Planning
In Fall 1997, the NFPC issued its report and study guide on a series of conversations held entitled "The Challenges of the Graying of the Ministry." In response to those conversations, a resource team was proposed to assist presbyteral groups in addressing the spiritual, psychological, physical and financial aspects of aging in ministry and retirement. Consultants to the project included the Third Age Center of Fordham University, Institute for Ministry Transition, and Wayne Martin LeNell, author of Income Taxes for Priests Only and The Unique Retirement Status of Priests.
In June 1999, the Third Age Center hosted the third in a series of conversations on Priest Retirement issues. A report from TAC, entitled Retirement of Diocesan Priests: Special Considerations, focuses on compensation and living arrangements for retired priests. This work complements the 1997 publication Growing Old in Diocesan Priestly Ministry. Both documents are available from NFPC Publications
