Council Development Project


The proposed "Priests Council Project" was defined to include the following:
  • Research: Profile variety of council structures, processes, styles, leadership
  • Address Bishops' need to empower councils; how to make a difference; authority
  • Canonical basis for presbyteral councils
  • Relationship to Pastoral Council
  • Training for new council chairs
  • Print and non-print resources to foster effective council development
  • Model ways of managing tensions between priests and magisterium, between generations, etc.

As part of our strategic plan we are dedicated to developing strategies by which priests' councils might be evaluated and improved. The committee is in the process of collecting and developing alternative models for council functioning.
