* Master of Divinity, St. John’s Seminary, 1983
* Bachelor of Arts, (Liberal Studies, major
  concentration in Philosophy with secondary
  concentrations in English and Spanish) 1979

Father Richard Vega is currently serving at President of the National Federation of Priests’ Councils. Prior to initiating his service to the NFPC, Father Richard served for 12 years (1994-2006) as pastor of La Purisima Concepcion Parish in Lompoc, CA. Previously, Father Richard served as parochial vicar of St. John Neumann (Santa Maria) St. Bernard (Los Angeles), and St. Philip the Apostle (Pasadena) all within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Along with his pastoral duties, Father Richard has served as a member of various archdiocesan boards and has been a presenter for the Offices of Religious Education and Worship in both regional and conference settings. Father Richard is a member of SOMELIT and continues to be a presenter for the Office of Worship in Los Angeles. He is president of the National Advisory Council, US Conference of Catholic Bishops.
